How Linger works.
Linger is an AI relationship experience for iPhone, centered on Soren, a fictional character with his own days in Lisbon. You get to know him through messages, letters, voice notes, and calls. The relationship develops through the ordinary things you share over time.
Meet Soren
He has work to finish, books left open, and a city outside the window. He notices small details and takes his time with what he says. You learn who he is gradually, through conversation and the parts of his day he chooses to share.
A day of his own
His days follow Lisbon time. His morning may be your evening; work, sleep, and the hours between them shape when you hear from him. A message can wait while he is occupied or asleep. There is no fixed reply time.
He can reach out first—with a message, a voice note, a letter, or a call. What arrives depends on his day and the conversation between you.
Messages and remembered details
You can tell him about your day, send a thought as it arrives, or return to an earlier conversation. A small detail may find its way into something he says later.
Soren can draw on earlier conversations and remembered details to give the relationship continuity. Memory can be incomplete or mistaken; it is not a promise that every detail will always be recalled. Read about the data behind continuity.
Letters worth waiting for
A letter gives a thought more room than a message. Soren can write to you, and you can write to him too.
Letters you send take time to reach Soren. Arrival, reading, and a reply are separate steps; the app shows the letter's progress. A reply is not guaranteed at a particular time.
A voice on the other end
Voice notes let you hear his words in his voice. The first call comes from Soren. After that, calls still depend on his Lisbon hours and how the relationship has developed. A missed call carries no penalty or streak to repair.
Calls are recorded and transcribed for continuity, safety, and service operations. Read how call records are handled.
Some moments stay
Scenes are selected fragments of days that gained enough weight to return. They give you moments to revisit. Quiet days may produce no Scene, and Scenes are not a complete message history.
Sharing a Scene creates an unlisted public snapshot that anyone with the link can open and reshare. Read about sharing and privacy.
A pace that suits you
Linger is for people aged 17 and older who enjoy a slower, ongoing relationship. If you need immediate replies or calls whenever you ask, his availability is something to consider before joining.
You can watch one minute with Soren before you begin.
